You can change your template if you couldn't able to do that in one shot. But if you have did blogging for last one year or more time with same template and did massive modifications to your blog, then you have to think twice or more before heads up for the action. Changing your blog template will discard your previous customization made to old template and you could be able to manage the new changes. However if you foresee that changing template is far more advantageous for you, then you can go for it.
